London Ski Show Week

This past week the entire ski community descended upon London for the yearly ski show. As well as catching up with friends and endless partying there was some skiing action on the snowflex quarter pipe they built in the exhibition centre. First off was the best of Brits comp where the local talent battled out in front of the massive crowd. It was Mike Wakefield who came out on top despite only having been on skis for the past week after a broken back from the previous season. It was an amazing achievement and really showed how well he could get straight back into the top of his game! Next up was the international competition the London Ride. As well as the top Brits, a host of Europe’s best riders including Flo Weiser and Henrik Harlaut showed up for the event. Paddy Graham showed he could compete with the best by coming 3rd with a massive 720. Swedish rider Henrik Harlaut came in 2nd with a fully tweaked nose mute 7, It was however Mike Wakefield who once again took gold with his signature trick the Wake and bake. The level of riding was awesome and it was great to get some more shots of riding in the UK for another ‘Skiing in Britain’ extra feature on next years DVD. Premiere

Last Monday was the long awaited Premiere for our new release the Journal. It screened at the ride film festival at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square. Loads of the riders and member of the press were there to show support for the release. The vibe in the cinema was very positive and the screening went down really well finishing with a massive applause from the crowd. Following the film we all headed over to the Zoo bar for the after party where we could finally celebrate the success of the last year. It was a wicked night and a great way to kick off the Ski show week! The film is now for sale through a variety of websites and high street retailers.

Manchester

This weekend we headed north to Manchester to cover the Natives.co.uk New Breed competition. Nick was judging and I went along to film. As usual the riders were limited by the less than desirable snow flex Quarter pipe but still managed to throw down some nice tricks. Josh Fawcett who we had never filmed before was doing some really nice inverted 5’s and 7’s. New man on the scene Joe Murrell was showing his style on the pipe while veterans like Andy Bennett and Joe Tyler where laying down flairs and flat spins. The Winner was local boy Joe Tomlinson who won with a smooth mute inverted 7. This footage will make a good addition to the skiing in Britain film that will be an extra feature again on our 2008 DVD.
